Plans are moving ahead for a new fire station on the south side of the district, a project that will enhance response capabilities and provide expanded training opportunities for firefighters. The facility will be located on approximately seven acres of land purchased in June 2023, with additional land later acquired to support the evolving site design.
The original timeline projected a December 2025 completion, but necessary TXDOT road improvements in the area led to delays and a redesign of the site layout. Initially planned for a central location on the property, the building was first relocated to the east corner next to MUD 189. Later, to ensure proper frontage along County Road 57 (CR 57), the district acquired an additional acre, bringing the total to around eight acres. The building has now been repositioned to the northern portion of the property, fronting CR 57.
The permitting process is expected to begin soon, with construction bids to follow. Phase one construction is anticipated to start this summer and will include a four-bay apparatus structure, along with a temporary building to house on-duty firefighters. The move-in for phase one is coming soon, after which crews will begin running calls from the new location.
Future phases of the project include the construction of permanent living quarters designed to accommodate 12 to 14 personnel. A key component of the development is a new fire training facility, which will span roughly two acres and allow firefighters to train across all core disciplines, including fire suppression and rescue operations.
While timelines for the later phases are still being determined, the station is on track to become fully operational soon, marking a significant step forward in expanding fire service coverage and readiness in the southern part of the district.
